Course title: Energy Fundamentals

Course Code: ESCF

Course summary: The 4-day course Energy Fundamentals explains the value chain from upstream to downstream for oil, gas and coal, and examines how renewable forms of energy fit in to the overall energy supply-demand picture. This course looks at the economics of exploration and production for each of the major fossil fuels, and the value chain that links these upstream developments with the final consumer in the power sector, industry, transport, commercial and residential. The supply and demand for each of the fuels is analysed on a regional basis, with balances in each region being built up into a model of typical trade flows. This course looks at he whole value chain from the extraction and processing of the various fuels, through to storage and distribution and ultimately the retail network.

The 4-day course Energy Fundamentals explains the value chain from upstream to downstream for oil, gas and coal, and examines how renewable forms of energy fit in to the overall energy supply-
demand picture.
Who should attend? This course is directed at market analysts and economists providing analysis of the various energy markets from oil and gas through to coal, power and renewables. The course has a wide interest but in particular will appeal to oil and gas company economists, particularly those building up forecasts of prices; finance and investment houses looking to invest in the energy value chain; bankers providing due diligence on investment projects; multinational and governmental bodies; and corporate planners.

Key objectives: This course looks to provide an overview of the whole value chain from the extraction and processing of the various fuels, through to storage and distribution and ultimately the retail network. Regional analysis of the supply-demand balance for easch of the main fuel types is provided with a view to understanding how surplus in one region and shortages in another will affect trade flows and ultimately prices in each region.
A one-off event where we will be discussing how things are likely to go.
